Relaxation at The Royal: Our Cancun Honeymoon Part 2

When we pulled up to our resort we were both in awe. Everything was absolutely gorgeous and so fancy!

You could look through the lobby and see the gorgeous water on the other side. It was breathtaking! The lobby was beautiful, but it was totally open meaning it was always hot and sticky. We really didn't spend a lot of time sitting out there though, aside from the shows every night.

Instead of checking in at one of the desks in the above picture we were escorted to the 'Romance Concierge' because we were on our honeymoon. We were given glasses of champagne and she told us all about the specials for honeymooners. She also gave us our all inclusive bracelets that we had to wear the whole week and finally we were able to see our room!

We splurged on a master swim-up suite and I'm SO glad we did! While all of the rooms there are incredibly nice, we'll never go on another honeymoon, so it was worth it to get the nicest room. We were definitely not disappointed..

We threw on our suits, took a quick timer picture with our lovely bed, gasped at the incredible view, and headed out to the pool!

We spent the majority of our time in those chairs. We had a perfect view of the ocean, we were right outside our room if we needed anything, and there were waitresses who came and took our drink orders. It was heavenly! Neither of us wanted a honeymoon with all kinds of activities. After graduating, moving, and all of the stress of last minute projects and planning, I was perfectly content laying in a lounge chair.
We enjoyed fruity drinks...

We watched people parasail...

We read...

And we enjoyed every single minute of it!

We did occasionally leave our chairs, so I'll have pictures of all that tomorrow!

Did you opt for a relaxing honeymoon? Or was yours filled with activites?

  4. I'm way too high strung to take a relaxing vacation, although looking at those pictures is making me wish for one! I prefer to be out and doing new things and seeing new places when I travel, which usually means I feel like I need a vacation from vacation when I get home. Someday I'll have to try a beach resort vacay, although I always feel a little silly thinking about that, being a native Floridian...

  5. Oh. My. Freaking. Gosh. I LOVE IT! We're planning our honeymoon right now, and I'm not kidding when I say that you have me sold! I can't wait to read the rest of your posts to see what you thought overall, but let's just say I already looked into their site, loved the master, and am getting uber excited now!!!! Did you look into any other places? What sold you ultimately on this one?

  6. @ Miss Puppy Love - We did look into some other resorts which you can read about here: http://soontobemrsf.blogspot.com/2010/01/were-going-on-honeymoon.html I plan to write a post about our thoughts overall and what we really loved about the resort, so keep an eye out for it! We would BOTH recommend it without a doubt! We've actually known two couples who have gone to The Royal since we went and they both loved it too!

  7. I've never heard of a swim-up room that's pretty cool. It looks so gorgeous, I can't wait to see more.

I agree, after all that insanity you just to sit back & do... NOTHING. I can't wait! :)

  8. If I was a swimsuit wearing gal I'd be a lounger too--but I haven't worn a suit since, well, like age 10 I swear. Plus, my FI isn't much for laying out in the sun, drinks, reading...he likes to be busy but of course he likes his beer or Jack & Coke just not by a pool. Still got to figure out what we are doing though....and the wedding is in like 39 days. HAHA

  9. We definitely were not into the activities either. I love the type of vacations and honeymoon(s) like you had. We just lounged around for the most part but we did do some shopping and such.

Your trip reminds me a lot of our trip to Cabo right before we got engaged. We also had a phenomenal room like yours and sat around in lounge chairs by the pool gazing out at the ocean. So amazing!!

Looks like you had a wonderful time.
